Senior Photo Session at the RenCen

I had the joy of photographing Kayla in Detroit for some senior photos.  Here are a few sneak peeks of the session.  Just love the city!

The RenCen in Detroit, MI

When people think of Detroit, MI many think about the Renaissance Center, but how many actually know some of the historic facts about this landmark?  Did you know, that the RenCen started construction  in 1973 and has it's own zip code!  The RenCen consists of four towers each containing 39 floors.  The Marriott Hotel in the RenCen is one of the tallest hotels in the world with 1,298 hotel rooms.  In 1996 GM purchased the building. Some pretty interesting facts for one of the largest cities in Michigan.

I don't travel to the city that often, but Friday I had the chance to do a senior photo session there so I had to capture a shot of the RenCen.

To Paint or Not to Paint, that is the question!

With my photo contest winnings I purchased two software products from Corel, yeah!!!  The first one is a painting program where I can convert a photo into a painting.  I'm just playing around with it and took one of my flower photos and converted to a watercolor painting.  I really think I'm going to enjoy this and I'm thinking I'll be spending more time on the computer until I become an expert at it.

Sandy Puc is the bomb!!!!

OMG, I attended the most wonderful workshop with my girlfriend, Claudette hosted by Sandy Puc yesterday in Livonia, MI.  She is a well known and respected photographer across America.  She takes INCREDIBLE portraits and I can only dream to be as talented as she is one day.  Her "Creative Edge Kids Tour" was well worth the $49.  She gave us 6 1/2 hrs of instruction, inspirational stories and lots of passion!!!!  If you are interested in becoming a photographer her workshop is definately a must see for everyone.  I can't wait until she is back in the Michigan area.  You can count me as dedicated fan to her workshops, blog and facebook.  Thanks Sandy for a great night.

p.s. Oh, and she gave away free gifts through out the night.  No, I didn't win one, but it was fun watching everyone else (well not really)!  LOL

Senior Session

I just love when I have senior photo sessions and they ask for photos by a barn, tractor or anything else out of the ordinary.  Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing, Kayla, the daughter of a dear friend I work with.  I really enjoyed working with her.  I love when the seniors are prepared with outfits and a few accessories!

Matter of factor here's some tractors!

This weekend I was at Cheeseburger in Caseville with my friends and had such a great time.  On my way home I decided to do a little photo shoot for my love of tractors and barns.  At one point as I was shooting from my car window across the road the homeowner came out and I just yelled, "I'm taking some photos of your tractors."  He was so nice and told me to pull in the driveway and feel free to take as many photos as I wanted.  He even pointed out a 1930 tractor that I loved!  So to the anonymous man, a big thank you from a grateful photographer!

Bam! From Virg's Kitchen

Well, more like BOOM in my kitchen!  As my husband always says, "you can tell Virginia is cooking."  When I cook you know it.  I leave a trail of food, dishes and whatever else to make my superb meal!  Today I made stuffed cabbage or otherwise known as "golabki", the polish word for stuffed cabbage while growing up.  When I was a kid I hated this, but now LOVE em!

Loving the Lake

The hubby and I had a long overdue weekend just for us on the boat.  It was so relaxing enjoying Lake St Clair, playing in the rain, eating good (as always) and just enjoying good times with friends.  Belle Maer Marina has some wonderful views and here are a few shots of me and the hubby.

Barn Doors No More

I am just filled with nostalgia when it comes to old barns.  They remind me of a time when I was a kid and would play at my Uncle Al's farm in Michigan.  The time as a kid when I had no worries, no bills and just enjoyed being a kid.  Isn't it funny how when we are kids we couldn't wait to be adults and now as adults we wish we were still a kid!  Isn't it funny how we can look at something and it bring back so many memories?
